InnoTrans 2022
We have been waiting for a while, but in September it is finally time again. The InnoTrans, the world’s largest international trade fair of the transport industry, takes place again in the Messe in Berlin. The highlight of the event is the outdoor display area where 3500 metres of rails exhibit all kinds of wagons from all over the world. Of course, we are present to show our selection of industrial hinges to companies from all over the world. Take a look at some examples below!
Hinges for coupling systems
Hübner Transportation is, among other things, a global player in the field of walkways and coupling systems for trains and buses. They needed flexible hinges for the walkways in the carriages. We developed these hinges to be custom-made so that the running boards in flexible corridors between two train carriages can be mounted in such a way that the necessary flexibility is maintained. For this reason, we developed a rolled hinge of 304 stainless steel, which is notched after processing.

Hinges for ceiling coverings
For plastics specialist Ernst Hombach Kunststofftechnik, we developed a special hinge for the ceiling covers in trains. This company has been a supplier of interior parts in rail transport for more than ten years, thanks to their special method of thermoforming. These include the ceiling, the side wall, the door opening and the driver’s compartment covering. Their strength lies particularly in the use of their innovative ‘twin sheet’ technology. This special technology offers the company many advantages, including more creative freedom. For example, the company produces ceiling covers with lighting in its train carriages, for which it needed a custom-made hinge that could close and open these covers properly. We therefore developed several special clamped pin hinges that are not only durable and user-friendly, but also blend in well with the design.
Hinges for wagon construction
Bombardier Transportation has been known for years as a specialist in wagon building and manufacturer of rolling stock. In 2021, the company was taken over by Alstom, so the mobility companies have joined forces. For Bombardier, we developed a special hinge in RVS 304. This stainless steel hinge part (square hinge) with fold is used by the company in wagon construction.
